The Music Man

Where: Winter Garden Theatre

Opening Date: February 10, 2022

Maybe you’ve already seen a staging of Meredith Wilson’s The Music ManBut you’ve never heard the classic songs “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Ya Got Trouble,” and “Gary, Indiana” sung by Hugh Jackman as Harold Hill.

The production, directed by four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony winner Warren Carlyle, is destined to be one of the biggest Broadway shows in 2022. Where: Hudson Theatre

Theater aficionados, and fans of the classic composers, have been waiting a long time for the promised first-ever New York City revival of Plaza Suite to open its doors. Finally, after yet another covid postponement, Plaza Suite is set to begin performances at the Hudson Theatre on February 25th.

This classic Broadway comedy about marriage, written by the great playwright Neil Simon, will star the award-winning (and married in real life) actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. We couldn’t think of a more dynamic pair of actors to revive Plaza Suite and are thrilled that the curtains are finally opening this year.

Mr. Saturday Night

Where: Nederlander Theater

Opening Date: March 31, 2022

Co-written with and starring Billy Crystal is the new musical comedy Mr. Saturday Night. Following the hopeful comic Buddy Young Jr. on his successful—although personally complicated—rise through TV performance, Mr. Saturday Night is a story of both fame and redemption. With Randy Graff, David Paymer, and Shoshana Bean rounding out the cast, Mr. Saturday Night is destined to be one of Broadway’s many shining productions this year.

This spring at the Booth Theatre, fans are able to witness the Broadway revival of Ntozake Shange’s choreopoem for colored girls who have considered suicide/ when the rainbow is enuf. Directed and choreographed by Camille A. Brown, for colored girls offers unflinchingly honest accounts of what it’s like to move through a sexist and racist world as a woman of color.

With biting humor, hopeful activism, and the grit of survival, for colored girls is a special moment taking place on Broadway this year. We hope fans of every stripe will do themselves a favor and be a part of it.

The Little Prince

Where: Broadway Theater

Reunited with its original director Anna Shapiro for its Broadway debut is The Minutes, a play which delves into the inner workings of local political meetings and their agenda-clad attendants. The cast of The Minutes includes Tony-winning playwright and actor Tracy Letts, Tony winners Blair Brown and Jessie Mueller, and Schitt’s Creek actor Noah Reid for his Broadway debut.

How I Learned to Drive

Adding to the many unforgettable shows opening on Broadway this year is the Pulitzer Prize-winning play How I Learned to DriveWritten by Paula Vogel in 1998, the thrilling return of How I Learned to Drive will reunite its original stars—Mary-Louise Parker (Proof) and David Morse (The Iceman Cometh)—with their award-winning director Mark Brokaw (Heisenberg).

We don’t want to say too much more about How I Learned to Drive, a play centered on a young woman’s relationship with her uncle and their driving lessons of the past.
